Afroes attends The Anzisha Prize 2015

The Anzisha Prize seeks to award young entrepreneurs who have developed and implemented innovative solutions to social challenges or started successful businesses within their communities. 12 finalists from across Africa will win an all-expenses paid trip to South Africa to be a part of a week-long entrepreneurship workshop and conference at the African Leadership Academy campus on the outskirts of Johannesburg.  The grand prize winners, selected from these finalists, will share prizes worth $75,000 USD. Afroes Exhibiting at My World Of Tomorrow Exhibition 2015

Afroes had an opportunity as a Business Connection(BCX) sponsored exhibitor at My World of Tomorrow Exhibition 2015 held from the 22-24 October at the Sandton International Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa. Hacking For Gender Equality and Human Rights

Afroes partnered with Geekulcha to conduct a design thinking workshop to help the hackers understand the challenge Gender Equality and empowerment much better. The hackers had to design 3 solutions to address Gender Equality and Empowerment(leadership, Gender-Based Violence against Women and Promotion of the HeForShe Campaign.   One of the groups developed a website and USSD app which tackles the issue of Gender-Based Violence provides a platform for women to speak out against Gender-Based Violence and also teaches the different types of abuse.
